(19,066 posts)When the economy tanked under Trump, economists were making crazy predictions that we'd take 5 years plus to get back to pre-pandemic levels. It took Biden a little more than 1 year likely as we're not that far off now.
This wasn't a given, this could have been a double dip recession, it could have been a painfully slow recovery. Instead Biden passed the American Rescue plan and immediately we saw the best year for jobs growth in our nation's history and the best year for GDP growth since the early 80s.
Wage growth is also extremely robust which is off setting most of the inflation.

(8,748 posts)When McConnell, Merlot Boner and Ryan would everyday stand in front of banners saying Jobs Jobs, Jobs. They accomplished that like they did killing Obama Care and replacing it with better, (day one, two weeks) and infrastructure week. And they ALL sit stone faced on their asses, exempt Susan Collins, and the screaming bimbos, when every mention of this economy is spoken at SOTU. When the hell will brain dead GQP cult wake up? (I know the answer)

(82,849 posts)7.4 million jobs in 14 months. How many jobs did the former guy add to the economy in four years? Whoops, looks like I spelled "subtract" wrong in the previous sentence.

I'm so happy to be living under President Biden's leadership. I just feel like we are in good hands with him, his Admin, Senator Schumer, Speaker Pelosi . . .
Like - we are going to be okay.

(45,450 posts)RW news is obsessed with inflation, which is a problem that the fed needs to tackle sooner than later. And the myth that nobody wants to work shitty jobs for low pay and no benefits anymore because we're a bunch of lazy entitled bums.
A fun reality show would be to force wealthy "job creators" to pull themselves up by the bootstraps like many normal people had to deal with during the Republican-caused recession. See how long until they have a mental breakdown.

"This is an unusual bounce," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, which conducted the poll. "It gets him back to where he was pre-Afghanistan."
Here's a look at some of the numbers:
Overall approval rating jumped to 47%, up 8 points from the NPR poll last month. Presidents don't generally see much, if any bounce, out of a State of the Union address. Since 1978, there had only been six times when a president saw an approval rating improve 4 points or more following State of the Union addresses, according to the pollsters. Three of those bounces were for former President Bill Clinton;
Ukraine handling is up 18 points to 52%;
Coronavirus pandemic handling is now 55%, up 8 points; and
Economic handling up 8 points to 45%.

(50,559 posts)The entire eight years of the Obama Administration produced roughly 11.5 million jobs. Divided by the 96 months of his administration, that's an average of 119K jobs per month.
Biden has been in office 13 months. He's averaging 569k jobs per month.
In short, Biden is producing jobs at 5x the rate Obama did.
Now for the fun part: Bill Clinton produced an average of 246k jobs per month. He's noted for being the best job-creating president of the last 50 years.
This is a rate that can't be sustained. Since the job creation didn't happen as the result of a stupid act like an ill-advised tax cut, the jobs now being created should outlast the boom.
