Problem is that history shows if you have people who believe in their country, they won't just come down and hope to be left alone as the bosses change.
Ukraine has started to develop a thriving Western style economy once they got rid of the corruption. They have a middle class and a better educated population, they aren't a majority population of pretty much peasants living their lives in company towns or former collectives doing their jobs in basically a subsistence economy that local leaders control.
They aren't going to go back to being the "shut up and do your part for the Fatherland" stepchild of Moscow.
They tasted the 21st century.
