The heck? Russian official includes "liberal-fascism" as "fascism" it claims it's fighting against

Russia’s foreign intelligence director alluded to cancel culture and claimed that Russia is suffering “a cancellation” as the world slaps sanctions on the nation for invading Ukraine.

“The masks have been dropped. The West is not just trying to surround Russia with a new Iron Curtain,” Russia’s Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin said on Thursday. “We are talking about attempts to destroy our state — its ‘cancellation,’ as it is now customary to say in a ‘tolerant’ liberal-fascist environment.”

Naryshkin’s comments appeared on Russian-language site RIA Novosti, which noted that they were initially posted on the website of SVR, the Russian intelligence agency. Paul Sonne, a national security reporter for The Washington Post, pointed them out on Twitter.

Since we're all just making up words now...

"You can put a shawzinga in a lapaduball to make it a sklwerfin, but be careful, because if you do it on a Thursday, then it becomes a lalazinga and then you are in for some mankalanka."

Equally as nonsensical as "liberal-fascism", but nowhere near as stupid.

More fodder for their Wars on truth, democracy and basic human decency. Repubes are totally in-bed with the Evil Empire* Russian Butcher as he hatefully campaigns for Anti-Christ of the Year.

The problem is that this is a frequent strategy of right wing extremists. They intentionally corrupt language and use it against the institutions they are trying to weaken. The second problem is that liberalism seems ill equipped to fight the problem. Because liberals tend to accept a diversity of opinion, and believe that good arguments will win over bad arguments, we tend to allow this infestation of right wing speech. Liberals seem almost afraid to admit to ourselves and call our right wingers for making bad faith arguments.

While fascism is possible out of any form of government, liberalism is typically not the mode of thought that leads to fascism. The are typically mutually exclusive. It is conservatism and further rightward on the ideological spectrum where fascism tends to form.

the Nazi party included the word socialist in its name.

Just like the Democrats who supported racism and slavery pre-Southern Strategy were all liberals. The Democratic party has never changed you see.

There are no radical/extremist ideologies on the right you see.

As we all know here, the Nazi's and Fascists were the ultimate right wing corporatists and capitalists.

...watching fox news. Who knew we could just accuse liberal democrats of being "fascists" and 60% of the people have no fucking clue what a political spectrum looks like anyway.

Cancellation is essentially social ostracization as a reaction to oppressive behavior.

Nobody is entitled to relationships with others, only bullies think otherwise.
