Elon Musk dares United Autoworkers to try to unionize Tesla

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a vocal union opponent, is now inviting the United Autoworkers to organize his company in an attempt to goad the labor union.

Musk tweeted Thursday that he's able to maintain the Tesla workforce because the company compensates and treats its employees well. Because of this, Musk claimed, he's not worried about union organizing at his company.

"I'd like hereby to invite UAW to hold a union vote at their convenience. Tesla will do nothing to stop them," he tweeted.

Musk was responding to a series of tweets by KISS leader Gene Simmons, who was criticizing President Biden for not mentioning Tesla, a luxury electric carmaker, in his State of the Union address earlier this week. In it, Biden touted Ford and GM's efforts at building electric vehicles. Both automakers are unionized.

Simmons said "The President doesn't mention Tesla, perhaps because Tesla is non-union and moved to Texas, a 'right to work' state. Give Elon Musk/Tesla its due. They are game changers and should be heralded."

He's a bully and an asshole, the two are often interchangeable, I know but...

He isn't anyone I would look to for advice or wisdom of any kind.

UAW should take him up on the offer. Unions would present some serious advantages to Musk. Not least of which includes handling all major disputes through the union which could help prevent the bad press of NLRB complaints and racism lawsuits.

8. So what your saying is UAW unionizing would be even better for tesla

Because it will create a foil as the racist and sexist attention getter. Great idea!

But also only one of those issues is actually UAW,, the rest is Ford. But I take your point, the bad press may still come.

UAW representation did not prevent bad press from NLRB & racism lawsuits. Don't see why it would at Tesla either.

But those are four events. Tesla has hundreds of NLRB complaints and most of them could have likely been resolved internally if they had decent representation.

And Telsa is just that, cosmetics for the wealthy.

The middle class can afford Ford's and Chevrolet's.

Elon is an eternal government grifter!

The simple truth is the mainstream automakers are doing more, better, and faster to move America to all electric vehicles than Tesla has done. As for unionizing - I hope they make him eat crow.
