I've lately been watching and reading pundits who are not sure if Trump can be help criminally responsible for ... take your pick. They've covered virtually all of the hearings and proceedings that are underway, and many of them are skeptical that he'll be called to answer for anything.
If he was a black kid caught with an ounce of coke, he'd be sentenced to 10 to 20. But he's an ex-president, so everyone has to tip-toe around the idea of indicting him for anything at all.
This miserable prick has been a criminal his entire life, he elevated his criminality in the White House, and he's still running illegal scams on the imbeciles who won't desert their "Dear Leader."
I really don't understand the bullshit surrounding this. He's committed enough crimes, publicly, to be sent away for life. And please, don't ask me to innumerate them. They are countless, obvious, and many are backed up with audio and video recordings. For example, his phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State insisting that he change the vote count.
If anyone has ever earned a cell in a dungeon, it's Donald Trump. But it ain't gonna happen.
My biggest fear is that, by 2025, the Republican/Fascist Party will hold total power, and Hillary will have to flee the country before they lock her up for ... whatever it is they want to lock her up for.

(1,312 posts)They probably wont begin an investigation into Trumps insurrection activities until they get the Committees referral. Then theyll run out the clock until a Republican AG can shut down the whole thing

Why? Somebody explain that to me?
Would it look bad for the United States to indict a criminal ex-president? Why would it maybe look bad?
Wouldn't it look worse for the United States that we didn't indict and put a criminal ex-president in jail?
I just don't get it? Tip-toe around him? Come on. I just don't get it?

(21,756 posts)This entire affair is essentially a mob case and needs to be treated as such. Mob cases are built from the ground up so...
First up... We have over 700 low level thugs already arrested with more to come. There are many complaints they are getting little time but these are small potatoes.
Next, there is often complaints about Mark Meadows not being arrested for contempt... I've addressed that here:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216378643
Moving up the chain, there are the 11 currently under arrest for seditious conspiracy. The DOJ has close to a 100% conviction rate, so these assholes are going down. Most of them are older and probably will not want to die in jail so look for some of them to flip and cooperate with the DOJ. We already have one that has flipped and it's a big deal, more will flip... See here on why:

Continuing up the chain, there are 8 people we know for certain that are under investigation (and probably more we do not know about)... They are:
TOM BARRACK
RUDY GIULIANI
ROBERT COSTELLO
SIDNEY POWELL
MARK MEADOWS
ALEX JONES
ROGER STONE
ERIK PRINCE

This is now into TFG's inner circle. The sights are on him but things do not happen over night.
As for gerrymandering... It is really not as bad as people thought it would be and Dem's are doing pretty well:

Let me also say, I know this is a lot to go through and some of it is tough reading (the emptywheel stuff was for me) but there actually is a lot happening.
Garland took office just short of a year ago and to take a mob case and be knocking on the inner circle at this point is amazing. But... You know... Lets just lock him up and to hell with actually proving the case... Lets act just like TFG.
