and there you have it......Chuck Grassley, 88, Is for sure running FOR HIS 8th TERM 😳 🤮 😳

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley filed nomination papers Friday with the Iowa secretary of state's office, officially beginning the process of seeking an eighth term representing Iowa.

Grassley, 88, announced his intentions in September to seek another six-year term. If completed, he would be 94.

Grassley, who has held the seat for 41 years, is the longest-serving Republican U.S. senator.

His campaign office said in an email that he delivered nearly 10,000 signatures from voters from all of Iowa's 99 counties to qualify him to appear on the Republican ballot for the June primary.

If there were any Dems with a shot left in Iowa.

God forbid you mention his age in the campaign, though. That would be AGEISM.

Seriously, I mean how many people live that long, and without some form of dementia or compromised physical and mental health. I agree with you about the advantage it might give us though. I think his decision to even run points to a mind that is declining.

It's like people who don't want to discuss letting senior citizens drive after a certain age even after it's been proven that they are a danger to others on the road because - AGEISM. Sometimes, you just need to accept the truth.

While it was clearly wrong against the 73 year old Dole, we didn't do it even against 94 year old Strom Thurmond!

Otherwise, if my calculations are correct if he died now he would only receive $105.705 a year. Or 60.75% of his current salary.

He's still there because he thinks it's his right.

We've seen this act before - Strom Thurmond (although he left before his death).

because he needs the cash from his "side hustle"? When he gets a pension until he dies, and has collected a Senate salary for 40 years?

OK.

...also on the public dime. And thats only a 8 year stretch. Some haven't done a damned thing in 30 yrs when you check their legislative record.

Pissy point here is, His Ugly Useless Record of all those 8 years.

Its not the age but the value they bring.
And neither of them did squat besides oppose the progress of the Democratic Party.

Yet their states keep reelecting them.

So we are probably stuck with him.
