No access to fuel and boat fuel is expensive anyway.
Maybe they are trying to save some money.

And they will need visas and permission to dock wherever they go.
Maybe no one wants to give them permission.

I would think Saudi might let them park in the seas around them. Maybe even the Saudis don't want the headache of dealing with the Russians.

Even the Chinese are worried about their financial liabilities when it comes to the Russians.

Seize them pretty much anywhere. Maldives, no extradition treaty? US Navy coming to call. We only want the yacht. We will take it under tow. Best you not interfere.

Seize them, then sell them. Even pennies on the dollar would do a lot to fund security for the refugees.

The vessels are NOT seized, at least Dilbar in Germany.

Any asset in the land of a nation imposing sanctions, the asset is "frozen" legally meaning it can't be bought or sold, it can't engage in commerce, meaning can't buy fuel, provisions or anything.

Dilbar and the other yachts in question are literally FROZEN. Meaning Usmanov is STILL the legal owner. He just can't do anything with the asset.

It would take ANOTHER legal step to start to legally transfer ownership of assets.

from you just because you are a citizen of a certain nation...what's the definition of that?

And this means that the next time the USA invades and bombs a place like, oh I don't know, Iraq lets say, whose citizens, as far as I know, never lifted a finger against us, then we're cool with the world just grabbing rich American's stuff?

Can someone sell a yacht they got through sanctions? Can someone legally buy it?

Who is going to pay for the maintenance of these things, it's not like you can just put them on a trailer and park it in the driveway.

I know you don't have the answers either, just wondering how this could be translated into some very much needed emergency funds for Ukraine.

and many Conservative/Tory politicians.

Just like the republican party, conservatives the world over have no conscience. Money is their only god. I am surprised the citizens of the U.K. haven't made this a bigger issue. Boris has barely recovered from "Partygate", and now this.

Maybe the people of England have been slapping Boris upside his head. My attention has been east of there for the past week or so. I hope they've been making life uncomfortable for him.

Several years ago, the idiotic Republicans in Kentucky decided to invest the teachers’ retirement fund in hedge funds and other risky investments. They lost so much money that they cut teachers’ retirement significantly. Matt Bevins, as governor, tried to cut retirements even more, but teachers revolted. He became one of the most hated governors in Kentucky and lost his re-election to the current Democratic governor, Steve Beshear. Unfortunately, he has to deal with a legislature filled with right-wing politicians who are too stupid to tie their own shoes.

Someone definitely needs to find out why Kentucky has so much invested in Russia.

A lot of information on many of these super yachts is available online. For example:

This site gives builder, year built, length and beam, hull material, engines, number of crew (14), guest capacity (12) etc.

https://www.charterworld.com/index.html?sub=yacht-charter&charter=motor-yacht-stimulus-8041

This one gives location (43.87768 N / 8.02411 E) and flag (Cayman)
