I never saw any of the Tom Cruise re-makes. The original Mission Impossible was all about the TEAM, not about one guy.

8. Mr. Phelps appeared in the second season

In the first season, the leader of the IM Force was a character named Daniel Briggs played by actor Stephen Hill who would later play the curmudgeonly NYC District Attorney Adam Schiff on the original Law & Order.

Schiff was replaced on Mission Impossible because his exercise of his Jewish faith interfered with the show’s filming schedule which required working on the Sabbath.

I loved the entire series. I also loved The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and I-Spy, (Cosby!) and Mannix, my favorite. What’s funny is that when I watch those shows now, they’re pretty lame. But I loved them as a kid!
