New York attorney general’s office agreed to postpone testimony during Trump appeal, a delay that could last months

The New York attorney general’s office agreed to delay the deposition of Donald Trump and two of his adult children until after an appeals court rules on the Trumps’ legal challenge, granting the former president at least several months before he could be called to testify under oath in a civil-fraud investigation.

Justice Engoron approved the agreement Thursday. The agreement notes that an order from either the intermediate appeals court or the state’s highest court could further delay the depositions.

A spokeswoman for New York Attorney General Letitia James didn’t immediately comment. In a previous statement about the appeal, Ms. James said: “While they have the right to seek a delay, they cannot deter us from following the facts and the law wherever they may lead.”
