Why can't we drone strike Russian forces?

My friend came up with this idea and I can’t figure out why we couldn’t do it: Can’t we drone strike the Russians and simply claim, “It’s not us. It’s the Ukrainians doing it with drones we gave them.” Much better than using piloted air forces because it would be very bad to get a pilot captured. What do you all think?

First, American tech can be easily distinguished. The Russians would figure it out pretty quickly.

Second, it would be an act of war against Russia. Do you think the U.S. should do that?

Lastly, the battlefield attacks you suggest would not end the war. Instead, it would escalate it.

We don’t want to get into a shooting war with Russia for many reasons.

There are experts who knows whose is what and they would know.

and a no fly zone is off the table still.

"But for these drones to be effective, they need to operate in an environment with no air threat."

"They may be able to hit scattered Russian equipment, Ulgen added, but are unlikely to reach the most important and best protected assets, particularly those stationed around the capital."

"Twenty drones is "just not enough the tip the tide of battle, even if they were highly effective," agreed Mark Cancian, of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington."

preforming to expectations. The UKR Air force is flying albeit with less planes than russia. I saw a vid the other day of a UKR SU24 ground attack plane hitting that convoy.
Every little bit helps I guess.

Drones are playing a critical role in Ukraine’s military defense against the Russian invasion, but they will likely become more vulnerable as the war expands.

Why then, is it not an act of war for Germany to give Ukraine stinger missiles and whoever to give them javelin missiles? We could even give them the drones and we’re just piloting them or he’ll, just show the Ukrainians how to do it if it makes a big difference.

Although, some here are saying it won’t work if Russia has air superiority.

A three are a direct US engagement in a war with Russia that could easily escalate to a nuclear exchange with them. It's why the only no fly zone over Ukraine would be one established by Ukraine and not by the West.

Americans (or other nationalities) by the thousands or have justification to cross into NATO (or other) countries? That is precisely what your “brainstorming” is suggesting. This war as bad as it is (and it is very bad) is at least for the moment contained, start adding in more than support and supplies you greatly increase the chances of it becoming more widespread very quickly.

vs NATO. The Russian people would topple Putin quickly and the troops would surrender. It would be over quick. The only thing I would be worried about is Cyber attacks and if China jumped in. I really don’t think anyone would follow orders to launch nukes but I understand you can’t just count on that as POTUS.

I’m not sure we should just hang back and let them reconstitute the USSR.
