My fear, I guess everyone's fear, is that Putin would rather drop nukes than lose. (Original Post) Rustynaerduwell Mar 2022 OP

entirely under his control, if you know what I mean.

As such it seems to me that there is the "possibility" that the target was attacked as it was, through the "ignorance" of the forces at the front...

(but you may be right also, and it could have been ordered as such from the top. Who knows, with this son of a bitch ? (apologies to his mother, I'm sure she never had life-dreams about birthing a new Hitler)

I’m not sure he would do a preemptive strike on the west with ICBMs even if we got involved directly. But unlike a lot of people here who are VERY CAVALIER about that risk I don’t think anyone could guarantee it wouldn’t happen either.

There’s been way too many emotional arguments being made. I understand why that is. We’ve all felt the weight of what’s happening in some way, and there is a feeling of helplessness.

But moments like this are bad times for ham fisted responses. I’ll stick with Biden and the Joint Chiefs and our NATO allies in this one when it comes to direct involvement. If they change direction I will support that as well. They know more than me.
