tragedy in Ukraine is that nagging little internal voice that keeps reminding me that Putin is so much "like Trump".
He's a liar---like Trump.
He is shameless---like Trump.
He does not care about his people---like Trump.
He is obscenely wealthy---like Trump.
He claims "They're all out to get me!"---like Trump.
He has never been held accountable for his crimes---like Trump.
I can't avoid the comparisons. Can you?

(29,166 posts)He may, in fact, be broke if he cannot refinance his debt.
Especially since his source of many money laundering ops around the world may have just dried up.
Putin, otoh, is likely the richest person on the planet... with an estimated $200B to $1T in holdings including those held for him by his oligarch criminal buddies.

(20,867 posts)Trump is a Russian asset working to destroy democracy in the US and the Putin Party (GQP) is helping.
Plus p was an agent in the kgb for years and he was brutal as well as a true mafioso of sorts. He actually drove a taxi for a period after losing his position and then hooked up with his kgb clan back in Russia, and worked his way into govt with their help. Then he was appointed acting prime minister by Yeltsin.
Dump is not anywhere near as wealthy and although a dangerous psychopath as well, he was an asset, groomed by P who I am sure has kompromat on him as well.
Both psychopaths/ sociopaths and extremely dangerous.
