A group of GOP lawmakers spent July 4 in Moscow after several days of meetings with Russian officials, according to NPR.
The group, which included seven Republican senators and one House member, was the first congressional delegation to visit Russia since the countrys annexation of Crimea in 2014.
The GOP lawmakers, Sen. Richard Shelby (Ala.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Thune (S.D.), John Kennedy (La.), Jerry Moran (Kan.) and John Hoeven (N.D.), and Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), spent July 4 in Moscows U.S. Embassy, NPR reported.
The trip comes amid bilateral planning between the U.S. and Russia for next months sit-down between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Though I know their immediate imprisonment is unrealistic, I stand by stating that their behavior is immoral, if not technically criminal. But then again, we all know that.
Having now ranted, I am thinking to myself: I have to be careful about ranting. Sometimes okay as a pressure release, but I feel like it can become a form of moral outrage masturbation. Gotta keep in mind the difference between what feels good and what makes a difference. OK then, note to self!

and support through sales gimmicks rather than actual effective governing.
I remember Congressman Joe Walsh from Illinois, a perfect example of a know-nothing politician. He had failed at every venture he'd tried and owed over $100,000 in back child support, so he ran for Congress, truly the last refuge of scoundrels, con artists, and grifters. Unlike many of the opportunists we've seen recently, he only lasted one term, and then pursued a career in radio. Just can't find his niche and probably never will.

(17,982 posts)Mike has told almost as many lies as Trump. Promised the people of Dayton a gun control bill after they booed him off the stage after the Dayton massacre. Last week he signed a bill allowing anyone to secret carry and got rid of them taking gun lessons.

(47,370 posts)Republicans are consistently deceitful and rarely follow through on their promises, yet people keep voting for them. Somehow they convince voters that Democrats are far worse. Instead of selling themselves and their policies, they sell fear of those left-wing "socialists". They are so obvious, but so many just don't see it.
True Blue American
(17,982 posts)To hang on is what they are doing right now. 3 gerrymandered maps rejected by the state Supreme Court. Taking over the committee we voted on twice to have fair elections. Cheating, lying, stealing is all they know.
The rural vote for them. In educated, working areas they lose. But I have never seen such public cheating as DeWine and his flunkies. Open bribery from power plants

I wondered where Tim Ryan was. He was over talking to -Zelinskyy. I have yet to find him on the local stations. They are pushing Republicans hard.

(47,370 posts)I remember DeWine from the Bush years, when he got caught in some financial scandal. I thought that was the end of him politically, but republicans tend to resurrect their careers without stain or regret. Bizarre.

(6,493 posts)but by now, most everyone has seen it. At least it shows their names, proving that they did it.
It shows extreme disrespect to a man who is probably going to die in this war. He specifically told everyone not to talk about the meeting. These two bozos deserve to be censored for this. They should be excluded from any future meetings, because they cannot be trusted. If anything privileged or secret was said, well, from meeting to Putin's ears.
I am sick of Rubio. I am sick of the TP. To me, tRump was/is a Russian asset placed in our government to serve Putin, and the GOP has been manipulated and coerced into some kind of mob relationship. If I were an honest Repub, I would have had to quit the party in disgust. Those that are there probably excuse themselves by saying, Oh, I'm working for change from within. Sure.
And then you have two bozos who are working for Putin's and tRump political favor. I fail to see any reason whatsoever for those tweets to have happened, except they were specifically told not to do it, and they wanted to defy the Ukrainian ambassador, in order to cause harm any way they could. They can't be trusted anymore.
I wish that Biden himself could censor them. Two little pricks...

While the live broadcast was happening it could theoretically be traced if someone relayed part of the call. Very hard, but Governments have the capabilities.
Same as when Boebert tweeted Nancy's location on 1/6.
And things like background and other tips could indicate location.
Point is these 2 are members of the Intelligence Committee and were ASKED not to do it. ASKED. And they did it anyway.

(27,556 posts)In the early days of World War II, the Japanese didnt really understand Allied submarine technology. Most importantly, they had no idea American and British submarines could dive so deep. When fighting Allied subs, the Japanese set their depth charge fuses to explode at a depth roughly equivalent to what their submarines could handle, which was a lot more shallow than American and British subs could dive. As a result, the survival rate of Allied submarines encountering Japanese ships was amazingly high.
For the first year or so of the war, the Americans enjoyed this advantage in the Pacific. Japanese anti-submarine warfare was never sophisticated enough to realize its fatal flaws, and American sailors lives were saved as a result. Then Kentucky Congressman Andrew J. May made a visit to the Pacific Theater and changed all that.
The Balao-class submarines of the time could dive to depths of some 400 feet, much deeper than the depth Japanese ships set their depth charges to explode. Congressman May was informed of this during his visit, along with a ton of other sensitive war-related information. Upon returning from his junket in the war zone, May held a press conference where he revealed this fact to the world, informing the press wires that American sailors were surviving in incredible numbers because the charges were set too shallow. The press reported his quotes, and eventually, it got back to the Japanese.
Who promptly changed their depth charge fuses.
