Ukraine claims 11,000 killed. If accurate, that's very close to the 15,000 Russia lost in their Afghan war, which lasted 10 years.

(9,998 posts)That # seems awful high, especially after it being pointed out by the OP that 15,000 died in the 10 Year Afghan war.

(11,884 posts)And as the russian people learn the truth , and see these numbers , support will collapse even faster for putin's war. putin's not just losing, he's being humiliated, and the economic, PR, and battlefield wars are looking pretty bad now, and that's before many more join in the fight, and additional weapons are dispersed and used. putin's looking like a fool, and about to get worse. No wonder rusians are surrendering, and poking holes in their own gas tanks.

(13,870 posts)numbers when this mess putin started is all over. Saying that even if the number are HALF true it's a staggering amount of blood and treasure wasted by putin for a sick dream of his.
YMMV

(8,278 posts)Hell even if you split the differencebetween the two side's estimates, that's still at least 6,000 losses on Russia's side.
Also if true, I am somewhat suspicious that Ukraine has been able to do this without maybe a little help from those Polish MiGs that weren't sent

(12,218 posts)the difference, one country caused the devastation to countless lives being lost and the destruction of livelihood and towns and cities.
The numbers I fear for the Ukrainians are high.
