Further isolation looms for the Russian people...

Putin is really digging in. At the best this looks like they know the information war is already lost.

#Russia began active preparations for disconnection from the global Internet

No later than March 11, all servers and domains must be transferred to the #Russian zone. In addition, detailed data on the network infrastructure of the sites is being collected.

broadcasts into Russia and people hide radios so they can find out what is really going on. And then the ongoing broadcast of Radio Moscow. It all really is reverting backwards. Cold war era and all the endless propaganda and hiding any truths.

The BBC is resorting to broadcasting news bulletins over shortwave radio in Russia after the country blocked access to BBC websites, The Guardian reports. The BBC announced it was bringing back the WWII-era broadcasting technology in the region just hours before its sites were banned. News of the ban was also reported by Russian state news agency RIA.

Remember leaflet drops? Without proper radios how else can information be shared?

If they are only able to connect with the Russian internet and don't have radios how would they even connect with VOA or something similar?

You're right it really is going backwards. But will the citizens just sail blithely by and say "Swell,Vald. No problem." or will there be a revolt?

No money, no food, no internet doesn't sound too keen. They may have plenty of fuel but it's going to be a case of "all dressed up and no where to go" if he keeps this up.

I looked up the average ages on Wikipedia...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Russia

Age structure
Under 18 years
~23.21%
18–44 years
~34.73%
45–64 years
26.55%
65 and over
15.6%
Lots of young people. Almost 60% of the population is 44 and under. I doubt those born in the 90's are going to want to do without their tech. This will be interesting to watch, albeit sad.

I've been seeing some theories circulated on the internet today that Russia and China may have already started backroom negotiations for Russia's resources to be fed to China's growing economy.

There's an opportunity to be seized there and I wouldn't be surprised if the parties simply do what is in their best interest.

It appears that the plan is to have access to nothing but the Russian internet, so more like a closed loop. Like being locked in and locked out, simultaneously.

That's the truth Putin has failed to grasp. Modern Russia - especially the big cities - are fairly Westernized. The younger generations listen to the same music, watch the same movies etc as kids in the West do. None of them are going to want to live in a Soviet style existence. Russia has enough food and oil to sustain its population, sure, and China will help them etc. But their happiness is about being connected to the West. Unhappy people who feel closed off are likely to revolt. That is what the sanctions are about, getting them to rise up and demand regime change. We also need to find better ways (ie, satellite, internet, etc) of getting real news to them, ways that can't easily be blocked or censored.
