So it would take too long to retrain them if we gave them F-16s or whatever. The solution was for Poland to give Ukraine 27 MIGs that they had. But they needed other planes to replace their MIGs and that's when we stepped up and gave Poland our used (but good condition) F-16s.
So it's a 3-way trade, and NATO had to approve it. I guess the Polish pilots are OK with learning the F-16s.

Nobody should take any of Putin's threats seriously. But I worry they are.
