I have no information other than this, but I am told JBA is on lockdown right now due to reports of an active shooter. Another reporter and I are in a shuttle van that is being held due to situation.

The VP had already left base on Marine 2.

1. Armed man prompts lockdown at Joint Base Andrews.

Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C. has been put on lockdown while police investigate reports of an armed man near the gate, local officials and witnesses say. Only few details are currently available.

The incident began around 9 p.m. on Sunday when two men, one believed to be carrying a weapon, got out of an SUV and ran past the security gate at JBA. It’s unclear what, if anything, led to the incident.

“I have no information other than this, but I am told JBA is on lockdown right now due to reports of an active shooter. Another reporter and I are in a shuttle van that is being held due to situation,” NPR reporter Scott Detrow said.

He added: “Guards stopped the shuttle reporters take from the terminal. They had rifles out and searched our van.”
