He was a "miracle baby" born to parents in their 40s who lived through and survived the siege of Leningrad during WWll...miracle baby because at that age and what they went through and having lost two other sons, Putin was special to them and was spoiled to the hilt. He was the chosen one, which is how Putin views himself.

He calls the shots, not them. And it's totally different now than when Khrushchev and Brezhnev were in power. There was a politboro then in the Soviet Union that had power and could depose the general secretary. In fact, they deposed Khrushchev. Brezhnev died in office.

There's no such thing now. There's no USSR and Putin is the president.
