That is amazing to me and I wonder how effective he really is?

There were protests and demonstrations in over 50 Russian cities yesterday, with reports of about 5000 protestors arrested.

Some people got the message.

However, it has also been reported that the majority of Russians believe the so-called "war" in Ukraine is "fake news". They support the "peacekeeping" mission in Ukraine.

If it sounds familiar to Donald Trump's America, it is not because Putin copied Trump's propaganda methods and his "alternative reality", it is because Trump copied Putin.

Russia can't shut off all communications to outside world and has failed at it seeing there are tons of other platforms other than US and Chinese SM resources Russian people can go to.

Traditional mass media is all state-run, and the internet is censored to a degree. Younger educated urbanites know how to use VPNs and other workarounds to access the unfiltered internet, but everyone else only hears what the state wants them to hear.
