Methinks that one of the main reasons that Republicans do not want us to go after Trump,

is because an investigation of that caliber would also result in losing Clarence Thomas and possibly Alito from the Supreme Court. Both are way too embedded with right-wing extremists that were behind January 6th.

That's also why they want to slow down on affirming justices. They know what's coming. They do.

1. If Thomas and Alito went on live TV

and chopped the heads off of live babies, you could still not get enough republican votes in the Senate to remove them from office.

4. Could they vote on SCROTUS cases from their jail cells?

I don't think there's a memo that "forbids" prosecuting a sitting (or former) SCROTUS justice.

I think there's a high chance that any real investigation would quickly connect Thomas to the coup plot.

I know less about Alito's exposure.

However, I do deeply doubt that Merrick would ever investigate anybody in the top two or three tiers of government. Sad to say.

11. What crime would you currently convict them of?

I was talking of impeachment proceedings and Senate conviction to remove them from office. Neither of these would necessarily put them in prison.

13. Neither would happen, though - 2/3 required.

The only slightly plausible scenario is actual criminal trial. Thomas appears to be very liable, if Merrick ever gets serious.

They are deathly afraid of the truth coming out (and more afraid of jail).

I mean even if it turns out Clarence and his wife masterminded the whole shitshow at the capitol, republicans don't care about that. What is the mechanism for removing him, impeachment won't happen if you can't even get them to convict Trump. I'm not trying to be snarky just genuinely curious if there is any way?

The vast majority of them are compromised in one way or another. Remember, Putin also hacked the RNC's servers, and he's got all sorts of dirt on them. Not to mention that at least 8 of them are Russian assets, probably more, and even more have likely been illegally taking Russian money. How much of that is going to come out? Probably, most of it.
