they are treated like shit from the officers, the NCO's and the conscripts who are further in their 1 year military service.

Back in the 90's, I trained with the Russian equivelant of their combat engineers and they were a fucking joke, they were showing up drunk, their equipment was shit, the NCO's were brutal on the lower ranks and their officer's didn't give a crap about what went on as long as it didn't reflect badly on them.
