Damage in Chernobyl

?s=20&t=5mhVNptqkX7vXJMALvkUfQ

The only electrical grid supplying the Chornobyl NPP and all its nuclear facilities occupied by Russian army is damaged. CNPP lost all electric supply. I call on the international community to urgently demand Russia to cease fire and allow repair units to restore power supply 1/2

Dmytro Kuleba
@DmytroKuleba
Reserve diesel generators have a 48-hour capacity to power the Chornobyl NPP. After that, cooling systems of the storage facility for spent nuclear fuel will stop, making radiation leaks imminent. Putin’s barbaric war puts entire Europe in danger. He must stop it immediately! 2/2

The real threat of radiation leak should be enough for a no fly zone in Ukraine. Either that or Russia should allow the repair crews into the power plant.

Kuleba is the minister of foreign affairs and those who study/know about the risks say his comments are overstating them.

even if the pumps fail.

I don't know about the damaged reactor. I believe that the other reactors were mothballed and the fuel rods removed.

That said, right now the winds are moderate and are out of the north north east.

Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania (plus Bulgaria and Greece) would be in the path of atmospheric fallout.

in a no-fly zone in Ukraine. We do not want Russian and NATO pilots exchanging shots, it could be harmful to everyone's health. I am glad that our leadership is trying to avoid WWIII and hope that they can keep up the effort.

All we are sayyyyyying is give sanc-tions a chance.
