Still expensive, relative to gas.

Gasoline has always been relatively cheap compared to what people are willing to pay for milk, fancy coffee drinks and even water.

By total retail sales. We eat multiple grains, and sugar is much lower in total dollar spent.

I really do drink Folgers, and the cost is about a dime a cup. Seriously.

Plus, Starbucks sure is resisting unionization. I don't generally go there.

The higher prices are for the fancier drinks. Plain coffee is still relatively cheap.

I get a can of Folgers from Costco for $12 (up from $9.50!). Generally lasts me about a month. It's probably $1 a pot if I work it all out, and one pot does for me 2-3 days.

Starbucks is maybe a once every month or so thing, usually because I'm with someone else who wants to go. It's fine. Don't get why it's a habit though. I experimented with the lifestyle once just to see how people live. I decided to go every day during my work commute. Just an americano, sometimes with extra shots. At the end of the month, I had spent $65 on coffee.

Hardly seemed worth it. Plus it made my commute 15 mins longer.

My partner's best friend goes every single day. He often drops off drinks. Like, I seriously don't understand. The guy has to be dropping like $100-$150 a month on the place. Baffling.
