Putin may re-open McDonald's in Russia by lifting trademark restrictions: report

.

On Tuesday, McDonald's announced it would close all of it's 847 locations in Russia, but would continue to pay its 62,000 employees, after Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine.

But that could change.

"Russia has effectively legalized patent theft from anyone affiliated with countries “unfriendly” to it, declaring that unauthorized use will not be compensated. The decree, issued this week, illustrates the economic war waged around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as the West levies sanctions and pulls away from Russia’s huge oil and gas industry. Russian officials have also raised the possibility of lifting restrictions on some trademarks, according to state media, which could allow continued use of brands such as McDonald’s that are withdrawing from Russia in droves," The Post reported.

Well, like that's not going to backfire.

Fast food is what it is but one thing they do amazingly well is consistency and avoiding food poisoning issues. At least when compared with the amount of product they produce. Will McPutins be able to rise to that? Doubtable.

There is one way out of the sanctions for certain regions of the RF.

Secession.

It will start in Kaliningrad (Konigsberg). I read recently about rumblings of secession there.

McDonald’s is the least of this worries now.

The Russians will not give up Kaliningrad. Without it, their nearest port to the Baltic Sea (and hence the North Sea) is all the way up in St. Petersburg, which is barely navigable in the winter.

I see the collapse from East to West. With the ruble in free fall, I can see everything East of the Ural mountains eventually breaking away into what I predict will become Chinese Russia. Kumchatka, Orkhust, the Chinese hugging Oblasts north of Mongolia, all of them would likely become Chinese protectorates. I think the -stans will be next, and they will likely ally with Iran. They've already told Putin that they have no interest participating in his folly.

There are 2 - 300 jobs that are going to be affected now because of western corps pulling out and a lot of them are Moscow centered.

Big whoop! Putin is a lame assed loser and this shows it. He really is a ball-less wonder. We are a zillion times more....more everything. As far as the economy and military goes, Russia is a big, fat ZERO! Putin knows it and he has been acting like a macho man/dictator trying to instill fear with nuclear weapons. What a bunch of BS. He is saber rattling and he has a lot more to lose than all the other countries. Oooohhhh, we are so scared of Puty for the last 25 years. Ooooooohhhh, we are shaking in our boots. What crap!

... Russian money" these guys are in for a shock by the end of April when things come to a halt.

This halt will take a second because there are still weeks of supplies still in Russia and steady percurrent isn't something Putrid planned for ... they never planned for hitting this hard this fast.

They're highlighting for instance Toyota and Lexus still in operations in the country as a plus but that's one company.

They do admit there are companies pulling out but down play it as mentioned above.

Another thing I notice is the FAUX News level of bullshit that is in RU news, it's FUCKIN SCARY as the make unsourced claims and quotes with no credible sources to them and taking words out of context OPENLY to say something else.

FAUX is scary, I pray we can do something about their bullshit here in the US

These companies are pulling out of Russia over invasion of Ukraine

KELVIN CHAN, AP Business Writer

Automakers halt production

Companies in other industries, including automakers, signaled they're staying out of the Russian market either out of concern for Ukraine or to comply with Western sanctions.

Toyota is halting production at its St. Petersburg plant that makes RAV4 and Camry models starting Friday because of supply chain disruptions, saying it was watching events “with great concern for the safety of the people of Ukraine.”

Mercedes-Benz suspended vehicle exports to Russia and manufacturing there. Volkswagen Group, which also owns Porsche and Audi, did the same, saying it believes a “sustainable solution to the conflict can only be found on the basis of international law."

Volvo Cars said it stopped deliveries because of “potential risks associated with trading material with Russia," citing Western sanctions. Ford suspended operations.

... of western "fake news" because they didn't say they would stop everything.

It's a slanted FAUX news way of highlighting edge cases as the whole picture.

I do understand companies are wanting to hedge as much as possible because WHEN this thing is over they want to go back to that market.

Its good that they found "supply chain" to be their reasoning because it dissolves them of direct connection.

You have this bad situation where suddenly, Putin made a decision to burn every bridge that Russia had developed over the past 30 years and I think most of the world is scratching their heads as to how respond in a way so that one day... they can pick up that market again in the future, sans-Putin.

The world had to deal with something similar regarding the U.S. between Jan 20, 2017 - Jan. 20, 2021, where the whiplash was fierce. But in Russia's case, they really don't have a popular vote system and it was obvious that Putin had positioned himself as a "ruler for life".
