A family of refugees from Kyiv carried their elderly dog 17 kilometers to the border. The 12-year-old dog got a lift on the shoulders of family members as it could not walk for a long time by itself.

I scanned this article quickly. The last paragraph made it seem like the WCK (a favorite of mine) might be serving pets for lunch!

I recently purchased a photo book called Allowed to Grow Old, which has pictures of rescued farm animals of advanced age. The images are compelling and the subjects have an air of nobility about them but mostly they are just so very dear.

Some people appear to be incapable of understanding that.

My heart is breaking for all of the misery and horror that the Ukrainians, two and four legged are enduring.

My dog is the same as any other family member.

I have a recurring dream.

We suffered a bad flood about a decade ago.

I still have a dream, 10 years later, where I am on a flooded highway, walking tippy toe on top of a guardrail with my mouth just barely over the water line, holding my dog with one hand straight up in the air to keep him safe from the water.

it's harder to stay balanced (tiptoe)

The dream would make an interesting painting.
