motivated".
Just because a group of traitorous thugs chooses to identify as a "political party" does not mean that they are somehow transformed into " non-criminals" who are immune to punishment.
YOU, Republicans, chose to welcome these insurrectionists into your party.
YOU, Republicans, decided to call them heroes and parrot their vile nonsense.
And, now, YOU choose to do your damnedest to obstruct or halt the bipartisan Committee's attempt to hold them responsible.
YOU have made the investigation "political" by wearing their damn caps and praising their crimes.
"Political"? You're damned right it is!

Of COURSE an attempted coup is political in nature! Everything Congress does is political!
"This is nothing but a witch-hunt!" cried the witches who were being hunted.

(3,469 posts)No one seems to be mentioning the distinct classes the Republicans have split themselves into. The Nobels are the Republican politicians and RW media types who are basically immune to any repercussions of their antics. TFG whips up a riot and the political class closes ranks to protect him. Meanwhile the common folk who fought police and forced entry into the Capitol are left to their own devices when they are charged with crimes.
You can complain about the Republican Nobels downplaying all of this but when push comes to shove, they couldn't really give a spit in the ocean about the folks who actually are taking the actions that they are encouraging. That, to me, seems like a damn good message to be pushing. The Republican Nobels get all the glory and their peasants get to suffer the consequences (not to worry, we can always get more to replace you).
