By Mauro Orru
The economic situation in Russia resulting from Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine is absolutely unprecedented, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
There had never been an economic war like the one that was started against our country, so it is very difficult to predict anything, Mr. Peskov said, according to state news agency TASS.
Western sanctions are hobbling Russia's financial system and effectively reversing 30 years of post-Cold War engagement.
On inflation, Mr. Peskov said there are negative consequences on the Russian economy that the government is seeking to minimize.
Now the situation is turbulent, but measures to stabilize the situation are being implemented, and further measures are in the works, he said.

(17,305 posts)it must have come as a complete surprise that his actions would have consequences. He made the fatal error of underestimating his enemy's resolve. Apparently his internal attacks on Democracies, that have been going on for decades, have not produced the results his experts told him that it would. Where is Donald Trump when he needs him? The lyrics could use a little tweaking, but most of you will get the point.

Also yes, his complete control over his own country made him confident he could do the same elsewhere.
Putin has been very successful so far.
I wonder if he is trying to figure out where he went wrong recently.
