I love my animals and would probably try to save them, but if I saw old, disabled, or children they would have to take priority. Putin and war sucks, but people need saveing first.

Also, I don't know how merciful it is to save animals when their future is so uncertain and probably traumatic. What kind of life do these dogs have to look forward to in a war torn country? It is a hard decision and I honestly can't say what I'd do under those circumstances. When I think of pets I've had, I'm not sure how well they'd fare on these arduous and dangerous journeys many have to make.

I am grateful that this is a decision that I would never have to make, as there are no good answers. My heart goes out to all those affected.

Winter the dolphin had little hope of a normal life but had an impact on many and had more of a life than she would have if she had been euthanized

do they have what will be needed when the arrive wherever they are going? what resouces are needed, and will that impact what is available to help humans who need it it?

and traumatized, that even if they do survive, they may never recover. Watching people carrying their cats, I can visualize the cat getting spooked, jumping out of their owner's arms, and getting lost in a strange and dangerous place where they will undoubtedly die alone, hungry, and afraid. Of course, on an individual basis, I cannot imagine making a decision to put down a beloved family pet either.

“We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.” ~Henry Beston

How can anybody be critical of those who are trying to help in any way they can?

We have closed our eyes to so much that is amazing and beautiful because of our need for self congratulations and fascination with our own destructive creations.

that may not be practical under wartime conditions, sort of like medical triage. hard decisions have to be made and they involve life and death. innocent humans should have priority, in my opinion.

And may Nemesis deal with those who created, enabled, and support this horror as they deserve.

So mote it be, three times three.
