otherwise, the Russians would shoot down any aircraft crossing the Ukrainian border.

shooting ended in WWII. 1948/49. Russia blockaded Berlin, but there was no war, no shooting or bombing. Very different from now unfortunately.

The Soviets didn’t block the corridors because we had the military might to prevent them from doing so. No UN aircraft will fly in the Ukraine unless either the Russians agree to it, or we impose a no-fly zone.

The West is going to have to do something or we're going to see a horrendous humanitarian crisis of people dying of thirst, starvation and exposure. And it won't be in just one city.

and the Russians weren't flying fighter planes that might well shoot down the transport planes. It's quite a different situation.

6. UN Should Try

The UN should try to do this.

Unfortunately, Russia can veto anything in the UN. It would be nice to kick Russia out of the UN. There are, unbelievably, other UN countries that would not kick Russia out.

Some countries should put forward a motion to provide humanitarian aid in Ukraine, regardless.

What would happen if a sizable block of countries said there will be humanitarian aide regardless of Russias veto? It should be tried. I don't think Putin will pull the nuclear trigger because food was dropped (although he will lie like a bastard about whatever happens).

stage.. so that its people can get some of the truth of the actions being committed in Ukraine by the Russians.. for the life of me, this just seems like it should be a UN action..

But few countries have the airlift capability to move a large amount of material outside of their territories. And those that do aren't likely willing to send their aircraft into the area without Russia's ok or Western military support.

It has neither an airline nor an air force. UN aid programmes need normal transport, either civilian or military, provided by countries or private companies.

I don't know what a "sealed airway" is, let alone how it relates to the UN.
