I have no idea. I'm not an expert on these matters.

Maybe, if it would be good for the future of the world.

You may have heard that Ukraine is involved in an active border dispute.

Google NATO membership requirements.

Are you asking if we should do it now?

If so, then the answer is NO. They are in a state of war right now and their government is hiding underground. Their internal services are not working and they would not meet the standards of a NATO country.

If/When Russia is driven out, and we can help them rebuild and they continue on the path of eliminating the corruption that has plagued their systems of government, then absolutely we should allow them to become part of NATO.

I find it interesting, based on this poll, that everyone want's to stay out of the conflict yet approves the one method to bring us directly into it.

In George Orwell's dystopian classic 1984, doublethink is the act of holding, simultaneously, two opposite, individually exclusive ideas or opinions and believing in both simultaneously and absolutely. Doublethink requires using logic against logic or suspending disbelief in the contradiction.

The three slogans of the party — "War Is Peace; Freedom Is Slavery; Ignorance Is Strength" — are obvious examples of doublethink. The act of doublethink also occurs in more subtle details throughout the novel.

In Orwell's book many people don't even realize they are doing it.

Ukraine would be the perfect buffer between Russia and NATO as an independent democracy, and very friendly to the other countries within NATO. Also, Russia would not see it as the same threat if they were not in NATO.

...why would they not do it again if they were attacked again by Russia? (Assuming they can defeat Russia and get them out of their country in this present war)

I agree with Zelensky and this war is a degree of loss not that there's not going to be loss at all by both sides.

I would not want to have the lost at all if I can doing everything I can to prevent it

...with the Russian people? Would it be more like an enemy on their border? But as an independent country, friendly with NATO but not a part of NATO or Russia, would that not be a more acceptable way to live without the threats?

Would it be more like an enemy on their border?

There are already strong NATO countries at Russia's border to this second

The " at the border of Russia " excuse is silly on its face and I wish the department of defence would quit with that gas lighting.

There is an active war going on and it would be tantamount to declaring war on Russia.

Maybe after Russia gets it's ass kicked back across it's borders.
