If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his butt ..........

You know that frog wishes his butt didn't hurt so much.

That is a saying that crosses my mind repeatedly during these times. Why? Because I am so, so frustrated with people, many of whom I personally know, who are behaving with such disrespect and outright hatred towards our President and those of us on the left. But just like that frog wishing for wings, there is little that can be done.

What kind of public personality tweets that the President of the United States is a retard? Ann Coulter, she's that kind. The Down Syndrome community is in an uproar over this. I know this because I am the grandmother of a Down Syndrome child and my daughter is involved with Down Syndrome Association activities and fund raising. Their Facebook groups are disgusted and hurt by Ms. Coulter's comment.

Ms. Coulter responds to her critics: “Oh, screw them,” she said. “That’s what they feel I do? I feel they’re being authoritarian bullying victims.”

How does one sink that low? It is beyond my comprehension. I wish it were not this way in America, but I think of that frog who also wishes ..........

I know of a local minister who I consider a friend, not a close friend, but someone I know and have respected over the years. I noticed a few months ago that he was posting anti-Obama pictures and screeds on Facebook. I engaged him a couple of times on line and attempted to present facts and ask questions. It became increasingly obvious that he absolutely despises President Obama because he is convinced that Obama is a Muslim and wants to destroy this country. With no success at convincing him otherwise, I decided that I would control what appeared on my Facebook feed and I unfriended him.

Once again, I thought of that frog ..........

I have a dear, dear friend through my church for whom I have the utmost respect. I could not think more highly of her. She is like a second mother to me. We have worked on many church projects together. Although I no longer attend that church regularly, I know that she is someone who would be there for me if I needed her. She is kind, considerate, and compassionate. Since this election season began, I noticed that she had "liked" right wing sites and then she "liked" both Romney and Ryan on Facebook. It was extremely disappointing to me to realize that someone of her spiritual integrity and humanity could not see through them. I am hurt, but there is not a thing I can do about it. I am silent, but doubt I will ever feel the same about her.

There's that frog ......

I have a close friend whose father is politically aligned with my positions. We have talked about it over the years. About three years ago she married a Republican and now she has gone off the deep end politically. She recently said to me that Democrats probably paid Clint Eastwood to do what he did at the Republican convention. I just laughed. Now she is posting how much she likes Romney on Facebook. She also posted about how much she admires Billy Graham and that she was glad he had endorsed Romney. I doubt she is aware that Graham compromised his spiritual beliefs by endorsing a Mormon, which he had previously publicly stated on his web site was a cult. It would do no good to tell her. I am saddened.

And that frog is in my thoughts again ..........

Another friend told me that she is voting Republican over the abortion issue because she wants to be able to meet God in heaven and tell Him that she voted the "right way." I told her that I was perfectly confident that I could meet God in heaven and he would be fine with me because I believe in providing services to women to assist them in birth control, prenatal care, and in raising a healthy child. Upon further reflection it occurred to me that she must think that about half the voters in America are going to hell. Where is the logic?

I just keep wishing things were different. That frog and I are keeping each other company.
