"SNIP......

“The IRS said Thursday it plans to hire 10,000 new workers to help reduce a massive backlog that the government says will make this tax season the most challenging in history,” the AP reports.

“The agency released a plan to work down the tens of millions of filings that includes speeding up the traditionally slow hiring process, relying more on automated processes and bringing on more contract workers to help with mailroom and paper processing.”

set them loose on the billionaires that have been dodging taxes for years. Bagging one billionaire lying has to net more tax money than getting a thousand waitresses for not claiming all their tip money. I would not care if it took five years of digging through old tax returns, they should nail all those scheming bastards.

As a side note, I e-filed through the IRS, got the return in my checking account five days later. I use the 1040 form as I have no deductions, just my pension and our social security 1099s. Easy peasy.

4. They're still working on my refund for 2020, and I just filed my 2021 paper return.

I file paper because it's complicated. Many of the free file options don't allow for all forms, and in some years even if I e-file, I would still have to file a paper 1099. So I go the full nine yards.
