I read a lengthy book some year ago about the horrors of the Nazi siege of Leningrad. It's so hard to wrap my head around a Russian leader restaging the horror against another innocent population.

(204,761 posts)When I was there in the late '80s, they hadn't forgotten, there were statues all over commemorating those lost during that horrific time and there was a "never again" mentality. I cannot believe they've forgotten so soon...

But if the Russians encircle and cut-off Kiev... turn off the lights and don't allow supplies in, it'd look familiar.

(3,334 posts)He was born in Leningrad in 1952, just 7 years after WWII. I am sure he heard many stories about what life was like during the siege. Russia wasn't invaded just by German soldiers but by soldiers of other countries including France.
