(21,028 posts)I am thinking of a somewhat pre, but mostly retirement project. When I started doing the math, I figured N-scale was the best I could choose to still get the gear, and have a huge, (by scale) layout.
Since I was a kid in the 70's, before even the Apple 2 came out, I had a Tyco (HO) trainset with dreams of something large scale and automated in some way. Even younger, we had an O scale train. It was a pretty big double layout so two trans could run independently.
My first career job was at Union Pacific. I totally applied there because of my childhood love of trains. I guess it's in my blood.
But, yeah, I would totally find a place to put a Russian Tank getting towed by a Ukrainian tractor on that future layout!

(14,598 posts)My dad loved trains.
He wanted to be (I didn't know till after he passed) a train engineer, not an engineer engineer. He ended up being an electrical engineer, and a lighting salesman.

(18,964 posts)Years ago when I worked as a factory rep for a n Ag Equipment company, BELARUS built and marketed their own tractor to the American market....went over well for about a year...maybe two...but don't see them now...they were bright ORANGE!
