Did you replace the hybrid battery?

Mine is a 2004 with ~225k miles. I only get about 40-45 these days, but I haven't replaced the hybrid battery yet.

'21 Sonata Hybrid.... on RARE occasions -- roads with lots of hills, 70 M.P.G.

Usually averages 45.

Total range about 520 miles.

Since daily trips rarely exceed 30 miles, haven't put gas in it for many months.

Charges from regular outlet in about 6 hours, so it's ready to roll in the morning.

Love it.

But I also remember my little stick shift Chevy Nova from the late 80s got the equivalent gas mileage of the hybrid sedan we drive now. It often got 50mpg on the highway, and also did well with city driving.

45-50 mpg on the highway. 30-35 around town. Not a hybrid. Sticker price 23K.

There have been some incredible advances in technology in recent decades to increase mileage without sacrificing very much power.

Maybe 30-40 miles per week taking my kid to preschool and running errands. We get 20+ miles/gallon with our SUV so gas price doesnt really impact our budget as long as it stays less than $5/gal.

Admittedly, I don't drive all that much, but I'm somewhere around $15/month for gasoline, with in-town all electric.

From my garage to work is around 2 miles. As it is I only buy gas once a month or less. I do feel smart about buying the high mpg car despite low fuel costs at the time.

It was an inheritance and therefore affordable, and pretty solid for a mid-1990s car, but lord, 25-27 mpg on the highway got . . . old.

Get 55-60mpg

Runs great. In the mountains it goes down to 45 but that's just over passes.
