scuttled the trump case when the two lead prosecutors favored moving forward to indictment?
Something doesn't seem right about that.

(7,281 posts)Figured we'd hear from DU's Legal Eagles.. Certainly it warrants a reasonable explanation.
Other than: "There wasn't enough evidence"...
No something doesn't seem right. Of course it doesn't. And didn't we see it coming when word got out a few months before the fact, that Cy Vance was retiring by the end of the year, yet this case was still "being investigated?
But some months before then, didn't we read that he brought on a very "tough and smart" Prosecutor to assist or take over?
His name escapes me at the moment, but he was touted as being the best in the region, extremely successful and smart. But that name wasn't mentioned or associated with the news of the case being essentially closed. I'm speculating he along with Vance, decided to shut it down but he didn't want his name associated with that decision. So they made sure the credit would go to a prosecutor we hadn't even heard of before.
Some folks rejoiced when that well known and extraordinarily talented attorney was brought on the team, other folks weren't so optimistic, the dude seemed to have had a mixed reputation. I didn't have any knowledge about him but some of those reports gave me a sinking feeling this case would be shut down.
So what news is there to report? The headline probably reads The Manhattan Investigation has no evidence to proceed with charges against DJT and he is no longer under investigation for criminal fraud etc etc etc. But there can't be a headline if it isn't made official.
Correct? So let it die under the radar...
We have other things to concern ourselves with.. Chalk it off to the wonderful world of Crony Capitalism when you have the justice system in your pocket.

(53,771 posts)of indictment. They quit because the new DA was against it. I don't know about the unnamed guy you're talking about.

(7,281 posts)whose name escapes me at this moment.. meant to look it up earlier (but I've been slammed with an emergency at home) but several months ago, it was reported out and posted on DU that Vance brought in this famous big shot attorney to help assist with going through the files in evidence.
We never heard anything more, except for a couple of reports or rumors of "indictments coming any day now", but that was a few months before Vance's retirement date which we knew was to happen at of year.. thereabouts.
Still dealing with emergency at home, maybe others remember the name which would be great. because a few folks here seem to know who he was by reputation.
I would really really like to know what the hell happened in Manhattan office.
thanks for bringing up the question.
