But the former guy's strategy book is extremely thin and easy to follow: Delay, deny, obfuscate, and delay some more. Eastman will continue to withhold his records until every last avenue for appeal is fully exhausted and then Eastman will complain that he needs more time to determine which records are responsive to the committee.

If these seditious miscreants can run the clock for another eight months, they'll see whether the Democratic majorities hold. If those majorities don't hold, they're free and clear, because any incoming Republican majority will let them off the hook.

They are being reviewed by the court now and will be handed over to the committee if found to be not protected by attorney-client privilege. My understanding ss that Eastman include people outside what would be considered privilege... And they may contain crimes.

But I can easily see Eastman filing some bogus complaint with a friendly federal judge that will gum up the works for another three months in spite of this court's order.

As I understand it, Trump never paid Eastman, indicating that they had no formal attorney-client relationship.

Eastman still claims attorney-client privilege and the Jan 6th committee says no... So the judge is going to read the emails and decide based on a number of factors and I believe that relationship is one of the factors.

Eastman would have to convince a higher court to block this judge’s review- so far, I haven’t heard that he’s going to do so (hence Tribe’s tweet).

That is the pattern we saw with trumps taxes. It slowly wound it's way appeal after appeal all the way to scotus before being resolved. We the people still haven't seen them.

That hasn’t happened in this case. That’s very different from the usual Trump & co delay playbook.

Unless Eastman gets to review, and appeal, the emails selected by the judge for release to the committee before they are released, he’s screwed.

is it customary for the judge to allow for an appeal once she rules, but before the emails are released?

The ruling judge doesn’t participate, the appellant (Eastman) appeals to a higher court, and if the court accepts the case, that court issues a stay, which would the original judge from releasing the emails,

That hasn’t happened yet,

I don’t think Eastman has the loyalty to Trump that Stone does, and he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Tick tock…

Everyone knows at this point that loyalty is a one way street to tfg. Both Stone and Eastman have to know the DOJ is closing in on them and that they won’t let any more than they need to flip from the inner circle. I’m rooting for Stone to flip first… He’s older and even with a deal that only gives him a few years in prison, I think he still has a good chance of dying there.

Eastman, on the other hand, has had a life outside the craziness of Trump World, and may not be willing to spend the rest of his life in prison.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

always amazes me though it should never amaze me, that we have a very very corrupt judicial system, there is no honest reason to lay our faith in it to remedy wrong doing of any nature committed by a wealthy white guy.

I'm white, so I can say this out loud and often, but I don't want to. I don't want to accept that's how it is.

I don't even want to hear about the pathetic few exceptions to the rule. There's just too few of them in comparison to others in our culture, in our country who have skated right on past the get out of jail sign, cuz they had the money and just enough of a few well placed connections.

that's about it right there.. all we really need to know. Waiting for the day that Trump will be held to account legally, in the eyes of the law, in the eyes of Congress and the courts is waiting for the tooth fairy, for Santa Claus and for you know who with the beard up in the sky.

No Justice, No Peace" somehow morphed into such a monotonous drone these days, it's lost it's meaning and purpose. to the point that I can't even stand hear those words anymore.

The criminal justice system is not perfect.

It works for some people and doesn’t work for others.
