If this election was truly about policy it wouldn't be close. Even the abortion issue wouldn't
be that much in play. Racists are connecting Obama with killing babies so in their minds
they have a real concept to drive their hatred. Obviously, its not about his economic policies!

(13,218 posts)Rmoney is a single issue candidate, he's white. I think we can safely assume that anyone who votes for Mitt does so because of that single issue. After all what other issue has he consistently pushed?
Further thought: expect any day now for Rmoney to tell us about his African ancestry.

(19,458 posts)May piss some people off.. I don't care. In light of the AP story about 51% of Americans harboring bad feelings about blacks, it's very relevant.

(4,876 posts)The GOP can barely hide their racism. In many cases they don't even bother.. Sununu and Palin yesterday come to mind...

It's more about the economy than anything else.

cali
(114,904 posts)ridiculous to think that race accounts for 20 points. As with most complex things, there aren't any simplistic answers. It's a closely divided electorate. Religion plays a role. Issues like abortion play a role. The economy of the last few years plays a role.
By the way, if it's all racism, how do you account for the repulsive Alan West?

(8,515 posts)Gives them reason to think they are not racists. Even have a few "good friends".
I suggest you can be married to a black and still be a racist. Its all about conditioning which
starts the minute we are born into this country.

(58,724 posts)However, I do not believe Obama would be ahead of Romney by 20 pts if Obama was white.
"Generic White Incumbent Democrat" would not have that kind of lead on Romney in my opinion.

(99,711 posts)And he was running during the longest economic expansion in the history of the republic against a candidate every bit as weak as Willard Romney. The electorate is too polarized to produce the results you suggest.
President Obama will be reelected. Everything else is commentary...

(8,515 posts)more than Romney. The right hates Obama so much that they ignore their distaste of Romney!
This should be a no contest match.
