Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy that he recommends Ukraine take the offer made by Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war - which includes many Ukrainian sacrifices - in a phone call on Tuesday, according to an official in Ukraine's government. According to the official, Zelenksy did not take Bennett's advice.
The source claimed that the phone call was initiated by Bennett. "If I were you, I would think about the lives of my people and take the offer," Bennett reportedly said.
Zelenksy's response was short. "I hear you," he said.

(40,149 posts)The Israelis have never "surrendered" and never will. They have fought half a dozen wars in defiance against demands made by their Arab neighbors since 1948. So who is this person telling the Ukrainians to surrender? Israel has gotten too close to Russia.
Update: Apparently something was lost in translation. Another report states Israel is denying this was what was said. Ummm.

(6,033 posts)... this is profoundly disturbing.
The Prime Minister of Israel is advising the only other Jewish head of state in the world to lay down to fascism.
Hopefully a public address in Tel Aviv will inspire Israeli public opinion to the point where the PM pulls his head out of his ass.

(91,944 posts)A senior Ukrainian official said that Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday that he should take Russian President Vladimir Putins proposal for ending the war. An official in the Israeli Prime Minster's Office denies the claim
Driving the news: The senior Ukrainian official claimed Bennett initiated the call on Tuesday and recommended Zelensky take the offer.
Zelensky and his advisers didnt like Bennetts recommendation, according to the Ukrainian official.
"Bennett is basically telling us to surrender and we have no intention of doing that," the senior Ukrainian official said.
A senior official in the Israeli Prime Ministers Office said that the details of the call as described the Ukrainian official were not true.
We doubt that the official is a senior person that is in Ukraine now and who was on the call, because it was conducted on a private line. Our contacts are directly with President Zelensky and his close advisers," the official in the Prime Ministers Office said.
The Israeli official said Bennett didnt recommend that Zelensky take Putins offer because Israel hasnt received such an offer. The prime minister doesnt intend to give Zelensky any recommendations or advice at any stage," the official said.
The Israeli official stressed the call between Zelensky and Bennett was good and long and included a discussion about the possibility of holding a mediation meeting in Jerusalem.

Sooner or later we're going to find out who's telling the truth.

(91,944 posts)not Russia, and Israel is very well aware that the U.S. would not want Ukraine to surrender to Putin, and if Bennett actually advised him to surrender to Putin, that would be very strange.
It definitely would be in Putins interest to plant something like this to try to cause division in the west
Who is this anonymous source? It would be nice if the reporter were this came from would confirm if this anonymous source was a verifiable Senior Ukrainian official, and that the reporter is a credible reporter

(101,711 posts)As pointed out upstream, to have the Jewish PM of Israel tell the only other Jewish head of state of an independent country that they should surrender to a fascist megalomaniac is quite the story, in and of itself. What do you think we are missing?
JohnSJ
(91,944 posts)Official", would they?
Taking something like this as accurate on first blush, without further details, is a reckless thing to do, especially since the historical relationship between Russia and Israel was never that great.
Here is the problem though, every major Israeli Newspaper seems to be this story.

Bennett has to say.
I also wonder why I havent seen this covered by the US media yet
I am not saying it is not true, but after the press did what they did to Hillary just based on Republican talking points, that is why I want to hear what Bennett says
More important why this story is so strange, Russia does not give aid to Israel, the U.S. does, and Israel knows perfectly well that the US would NOT want Ukraine to surrender and allow Putin to take over Ukraine with their puppet government.
It is bizarre at best, and it could be verified easily if we knew who this anonymous senior Ukrainian official was, zemensky confirmed it, or Bennett confirmed it
Also, Israel has denied this, but I find it interesting that is buried in the story:

Just who is this unnamed "Ukraine Senior Official"?
While this could be accurate, I would also wonder if this is a putin disinformation ploy.
