The people who are promoting laws that prevent women from having abortions, or from leaving the state in order to do so, or threatening legal action against parents of trans children, are the same people who wanted to bar Muslims from entering the US because they'd bring the draconian edicts of Sharia Law with them.

Any bets on which state will be the first to push for legislation that allows a father to drown his daughter in the backyard pool as punishment for 'dishonouring the family' by showing her ankles?

It kills me to hear these so-called "freedom-loving patriots" come up with one draconian law after another. They want people to spy and report on one another for cash! Is that child gay or trans? Call the police and get 10 grand! Is your child's teacher telling your precious little one facts you don't like? Sue them! Fine them! Get them fired! Only certain beliefs are allowed you see! We can't be letting white conservative Christians be upset now can we? After all, they are the REAL Americans and they know what is best by golly! For these people, The Handmaid's Tale is an instructional manual. We must run our country by Biblical law they say! That it's ironic - no, hypocritical - to make such statements when they are very much trying to enact Sharia Law here, and have been for years. Attack a woman's right to choose. Attack marriage equality. Try to block same-sex parents from adopting. Attack the trans community. Enforce their "Bible" by law.

They want Sharia Law.... They just don't want it called Sharia Law. Plus, Sharia Law is okay, so long as it's done in the name of CHAY-sus.

My bet on the first state that will allow a father to inflict that kind of punishment (which us sane people would call murder)? Idaho. Though, any of the fascist red states are possible candidates at this point. And, of course, such a law would come after one making it legal to murder your child because they come out as trans.
