Is indistinguishable from RT these days. Somehow Estonia, Poland etc wanting to be part of the EU and NATO left the Russians with no other options than to cluster bomb apartment buildings in Kiev.

(7,835 posts)i went over to their website. The headlines appear to be all pro Ukraine.
That is to say, on first glance, I found zero evidence that Democracy Now is akin to Russia Today

(21,319 posts)it was an Amy Goodman interview with Andrew Bacevich, president of an antiwar think tank, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. I will add he is also pushing a book he wrote. He is a retired colonel Vietnam war veteran.
I totally understand bashing the interview because he claims pushing Ukraine into joining NATO bears some responsibility for Putin's attack on Ukraine. He does admit that Russia alone is responsible but insinuates that pushing Ukraine to join NATO was an underlying cause. Amy Goodman pushed back on his claim by quoting president Zelenskyy's statements regarding NATO. Those Zelenskyy statements pretty much shot down what Bacevich was trying to infer.
I totally understand bashing this interview, I totally disagree with Bacevich, but Democracy Now host Amy Goodman did shoot down most of his arguments.
I looked at the headlines from Democracy Now's other articles and could see none of the dozens of other articles that appeared to be controversial. The article you cite is indeed controversial.
I will add that Bacevich brought up the innocent civilians who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, an inconvenient truth that Americans would not like to discuss at the present moment.

NPR is the one that has fallen downhill.

(46,962 posts)They have ruthless total power and can suck as much money out of their countries as possible. Putin is very guilty of this.
They know in a democracy they would lose power.
However Putin has shown us that he can corrupt democracies and make them autocratic fascist states as well.

(21,319 posts)that the Magats who run, drive, around the country protesting imaginary threats to them in the name of freedom, are going to lose their freedom under an autocratic government. Sawing off the branch they are sitting on isn't a strong enough analogy.
