I was saddened by the readiness -- even eagerness -- on DU to believe the original story.

(8,052 posts)2. Someone planted a fake story?
Who would do that, I wonder... Edit to add: or it was an issue with translation or miscommunication, or it was a Ukrainian administration member who misunderstood or had an agenda--can't rule any of it out, I guess. I hope Israel is truly helping them.

This is a verified top adviser in the Ukrainian Government. Please listen to people like him him, and NOT to "journalists" with questionable integrity who report using one "unnamed source" with unverifiable information, and a clear agenda.

PM of 🇮🇱 @naftalibennett, just as other conditional intermediary countries, does NOT offer Ukraine to agree to any demands of the Russian Federation. This is impossible for military & political reasons. On the contrary, Israel urges Russia to assess the events more adequately.

(9,073 posts)7. Too late, it was on Twitter
I now see the story stated repeatedly as imperishable fact.
It's also useful to get that just under the radar antisemitic train going, I've noticed.
Isn't it grand to be so informed all the time?

However it's worth noting that several Israeli news organizations reported the story. The fact that they fell for a fake story likely designed to stir up antisemitic bullshit is incredibly disappointing.
