The West Wing parallels of the 2012 Election

With Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast a week before the election, I can't help but think about the nuclear incident in The West Wing. The Republican candidate was pro-nuclear power and then there was a meltdown. His reaction hurt his election (though it was close, if I recall). I find myself looking at Sandy and shaking my head.

I'd compare it more to McCain 'suspending' his campaign during the 2008 economic meltdown.
