Not that we are there yet, at least in my opinion. As horrible as all this is in Ukraine and its extremely horrible its not a world war. We are not at war with Russia and they are not at war with us. These are facts. Its probably going to drag on and its probably going to get much worse. And its going to get much harder to stay away from the line. The sheer human toll is wearing us all down. Most of us aren't at that line yet, we are in a kind of hovering pattern. And that's reasonable. A miscalculation with what an is apparent madman could kill 8 billion humans not to mention all the animals and plants. Pretty much our entire world for a long time. That's the biggest bet in the history of history on what you think one person or even a small group of people will do. But still, that line keeps moving closer and closer for me every day even knowing the horrific consequences of if we are wrong. If he attacks another country? If he attacks NATO? If he trows a tactical nuke into Ukraine? Where's my line? Am I really prepared to support a decision that may destroy our world based off of intelligence? Remember WMD's in Iraq? That's not to say that this is like then, but you have to take the good with the bad when using intelligence to make a decision. How right is it? How right are you? And just like you don't play poker if you are not prepared to loose, you don't get to make this decision if you are not prepared to loose as well. That being said, maybe I am a little crazy, a little mad. Maybe I see that line move a little every day. Still far away, far far away. But it keeps moving in the wrong direction. Nothing wrong with thinking a little about where your line is. Nothing wrong with exploring your reasons and what others think, informing yourself and even learning a bit about how you could be wrong. In this case the latter is probably the most important. After all, the bet is the world. And the world is full of mad people.

(3,537 posts)Be it chemical, biological, or whatever - the sight of mass deaths on the TV screens will push a lot of Americans over the edge. And then, when it becomes known that he also plans to attack a NATO nation that used to be part of the old Empire - then we will go.
I expect that prior to that, we will have to do something about the Fifth Column in America, first.

Trump, Tucker Carlson and others are just about declaring allegiance to Russia nightly.

(220 posts)Hi,
It looks like the Russians did not learn all their lessons from Afghanistan. Never drive your Tank column down the middle of the road with houses on each side where people with anti-tank guns can pick them off. Never drive your tank column down the middle of the road & not have them at least 300 feet apart. Things like this may make Putin Desperate.

(7,245 posts)Dont let past wars cloud your thinking. This is not a past war. In Afghanistan they did not have Russian built railways that can handle their trains. Also, rockets from Russia can hit Ukraine, they couldn't in Afghanistan. The supply lines are much shorter. Its a different war.

(16,884 posts)Soon most will realize it and it will be acknowledged. Anyone who claims or argues otherwise in my opinion is fooling themselves or purposely or not purposely in denial. I think those in the know in the NATO and Non-NATO countries know this even if many arent saying it openly.
Give it a few weeks or few months. Then it will be very clear.

(16,884 posts)We and other allies already have many advisors and special op forces assisting in addition to
realizing what Putins objectives are and how far he plans to go and they are preparing.
Biden and NATO carefully navigating the razors edge. Pray that it doesnt become worse - but prepare for what is coming.

(5,164 posts)Of the psycho fascist in office who is a Russian asset as well as half the congress apparently and the murder of my father and over 1 million more. That is what caused what is happening now. My line for what to do now is of little import because no one who could have any impact gives a damn what I think.
Each day I wake up and we are still here, meaning myself and my remaining family I think it didn't yet happen today, but I still have to live with the pain of what did happen and the realization that no one really gives a damn and no one will be held accountable for it.
Ultimately I think the US will be living under fascism, we already are on some level and we will all be nuked in the future later if not sooner, because people are just that fascist, crazy and stupid.
