Grimes Is Being Called Out For Her Beyond Offensive Comments That Billionaire Elon Musk Lives Below The Poverty Line Because He Wouldnt Even Get A New MattressSpeaking with Vanity Fair this week, Elons partner Grimes who shares two children with him addressed assumptions that the business and tech mogul lives a lavish lifestyle as a billionaire.
------------------
But, as the musical artist went on to detail Elons spending habits more closely, she argued that he lives at times below the poverty line a comment that has been met with fierce criticism online.
But at the same time Like, bro wouldnt even get a new mattress, she said, detailing a time that Elon had suggested they replace his mattress with one of hers when there was a hole in it.
She said, Bro does not live like a billionaire. Bro lives at times below the poverty line. To the point where I was like, can we not live in a very insecure $40,000 house? Where the neighbors, like, film us, and theres no security, and Im eating peanut butter for eight days in a row?
Shortly after the interview went live, fans took to Twitter to call Grimes out for her beyond offensive comments. Firstly, many users pointed out that living a more frugal lifestyle is in no way synonymous with living below the poverty line, which according to governmental standards is the official indicator of being classified as poor.

And doesn't she have the ability to fetch some food into the house?
She expected to be a pampered princess with hand maidens by being with a billionaire with his own rockets?

(20,629 posts)that's nearly 30 years old, but quite honestly, it's still in incredible shape, even through several moves. I wear certain items of clothing that are borderline embarrassing in their condition. I rarely take vacations, in the sense of spending a week or more at some faraway location. I drive a very fuel-efficient, economical vehicle.
Financially, though, I would consider myself very fortunate compared to so many others out there. I'm just kind of allergic to the idea of spending money on myself if something is not completely essential. Any suggestion, however, that I'm somehow "living in the vicinity of the poverty line" is not only laughable, it's borderline offensive.
