It wouldn't surprise me at all if those who abandoned the truck were ordered to poison whatever food they left behind. Granted, a lot of it looked like it was sprouting. I thought I saw "eyes" on the potatoes. Those could at least be cut up and planted once the ground thaws out, at least.

easily tested to see if they're good. And they last for a while before rotting. I'd certainly keep them as food shortages are happening.

Those Russian soldiers are going to want something more than potatoes and pickles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Potatoes and onions are a start, but where are the beets and cabbages? And just one jar of pickles?
They really weren't prepared, were they?

when you need a six ton truck to haul a few potatoes.

Not to mention, would you stay in an army without taco trucks?

Clean it up, make it the world's only heavily armored taco truck, and park it in front of Tucson's Casa Video. I'd make a fortune with "Tovarich Taco"!

It almost seems like nobody gives a shit.

That convoy outside Kyiv for a couple of weeks is another example. Now they are dispersing.... all the better for the Javelin teams. Russian morale is gonna go as low as their stock market.

Perhaps in a few months that will be a taco truck, under new management, in downtown Kyiv, That is if they can get the thing running...

They tend to be good horse traders, too; to Hell with quality if you have a tapeworm or an eating disorder.

1. It’s a nicer piece of equipment than the US issues. The American equivalent is a trailer with canvas sides.

2. After witnessing the condition the Russians left this thing in, I’m surprised the entire Russian army isn’t on quarters with ptomaine. The Ukrainians are going to have to take this completely apart and pressure wash it with the bleach Trump wanted to use on COVID before it’s even marginally fit for use.

3. The china dishes in the storage cabinets are an especial touch. Especially because there are only twelve of them - and there aren’t any trays or paper plates for feeding rank-and-file troops.

4. Where the hell is all the food? The only thing in this vehicle is root vegetables. It’s possible the truck with all the food in it grabbed the kitchen crew and hauled ass when the kitchen truck ran out of fuel. It’s equally possible the Russians crossed the line of departure with no food, which means you could probably capture entire infantry battalions just by offering to feed them.

Then some Ukranians took most of the leftover stuff.

The potatoes and onions will soon be gone. Food is food.
