TFG Says He 'May Have To' Run in 2024 During Rambling, Lie-Filled South Carolina Rally Speech

Donald Trump didn’t even speak for an hour during his rally in Florence, South Carolina, on Saturday night, but he still managed to lay out a sufficiently terrifying vision of what the United States could look like should he run for and win the presidency in 2024, while cycling through the gamut of right-wing talking points about Ukraine, Biden, and beyond.

The former president railed against President Biden’s handling of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and once again failed to condemn Vladimir Putin; he bashed Democrats for advocating for a more humane immigration policy and acknowledging the reality of climate change; and went on an extended rant about the 2020 election, claiming that not only is there evidence the election was rigged (there isn’t), but that the matter is “beyond the standpoint of evidence” (it’s not). “I ran twice, I won twice, and I did much better the second time,” Trump said of the election he lost by over seven million votes.

The takeaway from all of this is what Trump has hinted at repeatedly since he left office: “We may have to run again,” he said to what may have been the loudest applause of the night.

The rally was Trump’s first since Russia invaded Ukraine, and he spent the beginning of it recycling several of the points he’s made in recent weeks. He claimed the invasion is Biden’s fault and would have never happened if he was still in office. He wasn’t so harsh on Putin, whom he described as someone who is “driven to put it together.” Trump, again, took credit for the Ukrainian resistance, touting the military assistance sent to the nation during his administration. He did not mention that he delayed said military assistance in an effort to extort Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky into digging up dirt on Biden and family.

Why Putin Didn't Invade Ukraine During Trump's Presidency

Donald was too valuable as a Russian asset to embarrass or risk his effectiveness to Putin

The timing would have been right if Trump had effectively stolen the election. Putin just bet on the wrong horse and had to go to war without all of the groundwork being laid. Putin may have to work within the time restraints of his personal health, and maybe does not have had the advantage of being able to wait for the ideal moment. He knows that you only have one chance of becoming Putin the Great. Now he is undoubtedly wondering if he made poo-poo in his mess kit and that he will be lucky to die of natural causes. Regardless of his current health, he may be doomed to die of lead poisoning anyway. There is an old Russian saying, "Those who are fated to hang will not drown."

Part of me wants him to not run in 2024, for whatever reason - be it health (or lack thereof), life (or lack thereof), whatevs. I hate him like poison and long for the day when I never have to see or hear from him again. (And it will do wonders for my blood pressure. So... BONUS!)

But part of me wants him to run again. Our hatred of him (and his demon spawn) is a great motivator. Every time he opens his stupid mouth, we are reminded of what a dumpster fire his entire administration was. And the longer he stays in it, the longer it keeps the up-and-coming Trump wannabes on the sidelines. They scare me. Their only goal is to "out-Trump" Trump. They are just as hateful and just as evil. Maybe more so. However, they will be smarter. Much, much smarter. And that alone makes them far more dangerous.

Just MHO, anyway.

In the old days, people had things like Chautauquas, church rallies, barn burners, and so forth. Dems don't have spectacles. I'm not even sure what it would look like, but I think it would be healthy.

Most people in America vote for either a D or an R without even thinking about it. If Trump runs, he'll get most of those who vote R. That said, I think he have a better chance of winning if Trump runs than if someone else runs on the Republican ticket.

FWIW, I still think we win in 24.
