Four more FSB letters translated - fairly intense reading

My head’s still spinning from consuming all this

NOTICE: This is not “feel good” material

One comment out of 5000 words:

And even if we choose to activate strategic aviation – it will only make it worse for us. Frankly, the United States is allowing us to get sucked into this conflict further. They understand that we are now trapped.

So here's a clean link to Igor Sushko's home page where you can easily access all 5 letters.

... the topic is too heavy, and nuanced.

This is not entertaining material, nor is the subject matter itself.

The topic is dark, and troubling, with no optimistic outlook.

I was amazed with the comment by Igor that over 30,000,000 million had read his initial twitter thread (of the first letter) - but that is a World-wide metric.

(from the 1st letter)

Most importantly, no one knew that there will be such a war – it was concealed from everyone. For example – you are being asked to analyze various outcomes and consequences of a meteorite attack (MY COMMENTARY: Here he most likely means the West’s sanctions) – you research the mode of attack, and you are being told that it’s just a hypothetical and not to stress on the details, so you understand the report is only intended as a checkbox, and the conclusions of the analysis must be positive for Russia, otherwise you basically get interrogated for not doing good work. So, you have to write that we have all necessary measures available to nullify the effects of a given type of attack. We are completely overworked. But then it turns out that the hypothetical has turned into reality, and the analysis we’ve done on that hypothetical is total trash.

I think most of us all have a pretty naïve perception of how the Russian Federation runs internally.

The picture these insiders descriptions paints is quite revelatory - it seems like this kind of structure was doomed to crash hard at some point.

in terms of the toxic effects of the combination of extreme corruption, grandiosity, and bureaucracy. I'm only at the 3rd one so far, though.

All things considered, I'd prefer the reality he paints to the imagined one Putin believes, so in that regard, it's hopeful.
