Instead of acting like the GOP has already won back the House & Senate let's do this:
1. Get out the VOTE
2. Win a SUPER MAJORITY
3. Pass OUR legislation
4. Save OUR Democracy!

Thanks!

GOTV!

(7,263 posts)Back then NC was solid Blue.
Senator Sam Ervin was my hero in the Watergate Days.
I remember the rise of the Young Republican Club at Chapel Hill in the late 1970's...and I remember Jesse Helms.
We need to turn it Blue in November.
Here is one of the Democratic Heroes I'm personally backing:
Charles Graham for USHOR for NC-04.
https://votecharlesgraham.com/
Charles began his career in Pembroke, NC as an educator assisting children with special needs. When he started teaching special needs children in the 70s they had almost no rights in our schools. At the time, states were not required to provide educational equity to children with disabilities. Multiple landmark court decisions changed that and gave states the responsibility to provide special education resources and schooling to students in need of it. Charles spent 30 years fighting the system to recognize these childrens humanity.
Today, as the owner of a companion home-health company, Charles Graham helps those same folks live independently as adults. Through his company he places home health aides with seniors and disabled adults so they can stay in their homes.
As a state Representative and local business owner, Charles Graham has proven himself a true champion of blue collar workers and families in rural North Carolina. In the legislature, Charles has developed a reputation for working with anyone who will listen to better the lives of everyone in his district.
As a Lumbee American Indian, he has brought benefits to his people. He helped Lumbee veterans get easier access to VA benefits, and hes championed an American Indian Heritage Commission to promote and preserve Indian culture. Charles Graham is running for Congress to continue helping people in North Carolina to get ahead and stay ahead.

(7,263 posts)I'd rather vote for a person who realizes when they did wrong and admits it, than those who make excuses.
I don't know much more about him except he is from Lumberton, I have an old friend who is a Lumbee, and likes him.
His apology seems sincere, and he is upfront on his website about the issue. Here is a write up from QnotesCarolinas, which is the LGBTQ arts, entertainment and news publication based in Charlotte, N.C.
https://qnotescarolinas.com/nc-dem-apologizes-for-supporting-hb2/
I believe human dignity is a human right. Its a value I hold dear but five years ago I failed to uphold my own value when I voted for HB2, and it was a mistake. It was a bill written and voted on within 24 hours, with the conversation surrounding protecting children and women, but I should have done more research to completely understand the impact of the bill. After the hurried vote, I spent the following days talking with colleagues and transgender-rights activists about the impacts of the bill I became a full supporter of recalling the bill and worked across the aisle to fully repeal it. To the LGBTQ+ community, and specifically to the transgender community who suffered real pain from this bill and the rhetoric that surrounded it, I am sorry.
I have always tried to do what is right, but I am not perfect. Im running for Congress to stand up against hatred and ignorance, and I expect to be held accountable when I fail to live up to my own principles.

(7,263 posts)Oh baby, baby
Oh baby, baby
How was I supposed to know
That something wasn't right here
Oh baby baby
I shouldn't have let you go
And now you're out of sight, yeah
Show me, how you want it to be
Tell me baby
'Cause I need to know now what we've got
My loneliness is killing me
I must confess, I still believe
When I'm not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

(33,176 posts)I am worried that they have rigged it so much that GOTV will not matter.
That there won't be enough Democrats ALLOWED to vote.
That they have gerrymandered so much as to make Democratic votes useless.
That they have fixed it so who counts the votes or decides if they matter will determine the election.
Tell me how to stop that with a SCOTUS that doesn't believe in Voting Rights or two of our Senators who don't care about the GOP taking the election.

(7,263 posts)All we can do is get as many folks to the polls as we possibly can.
The lawyers and the pols have to deal with the other crap, but honestly if we get an absolutely MASSIVE Blue Tidal Wave to turn out to vote, most of that stuff won't mean crap.

(33,176 posts)I don't see a massive blue wave happening. Not enough to stem the tide of GOP election rigging.
Trump, the worst human to ever occupy the White House still got more votes that his first election.
And even after an attempted armed coup, he is still fully supported by the GOP and their voters.
Enough Americans waking up to what the GOP has become and voting them out is a pipe dream.
We need to GOTV, not for some fantasy super majority, but to desperately hold onto the House.
Manchen and Simena, by scuttling the Democratic agenda, have already seen to it that we lose the Senate.

(13,564 posts)...laws that allow them to set aside the votes of the citizens and put their own in control.
Can't out-organize that.
