Russia is striking closer and closer to NATO allies, and threatening non-NATO countries. Where will the red line be, and will it just keep moving ? Will one country after another fall to "salami tactics" ?

(42,663 posts)I don't doubt Putin's in a huff over Ukraine and NATO, but I think this is directed at the US too. With TDFG in office, he thought he had America on the ropes, yielding to his every whim. And he must understand that we are divided internally, that capitalist stock markets are most vulnerable after 12 years of sharp advance, that our economies are also stretched thin by covid, and our manufacturing base on the rebound only recently. Many reasons why his position will only weaken, so now becomes go time. I just don't know how strong NATO will prove to be, or if our traditional allies will be enthusiastic partners.

(2,847 posts)went to (declared) war over Poland, to keep it free from outside control. Well, that didn't work out so well. One dictator wanted half, another wanted the other half, and one of them ended up with it all. For several decades.
